THE LAST TIME YOU'LL LOVE ME album review
"Their live performances are always energetic and passionate. This band leaves it all on stage and leaves everyone talking, never failing to engage their audiences through their fighting spirit, musical chemistry, and headbanging. Lighterburns’ stage presence is just as bright as the yellow background posters displaying their logo as they perform... "

Lighterburns is a three piece rock band formed in early 2017, rising out of suburban San Diego. Made up of Alfonso Vargas (lead vocals and guitar), Jin Salamack (bass), Javon Shapouri (Lead Guitar) and Patrick DeWit (drums), Lighterburns’ emotionally charged lyrics pair with power chord changes, fast paces, and high volume to create their trademark sound: loud, lively, and blurring the line between rock and pop punk. Inspired by acts like Failure and Fall Out Boy, the trio uniquely reimagines the early 2000’s rock music scene, tapping into the liveliness of strong melodies and fast rhythms. However, behind the blaring noise lives a very special type of energy. Lighterburns makes the type of music that reminds you of life after heartbreak. Hurt, angry, hopeful, but very much alive.
Summer 2018 brought big things for Lighterburns, as they released their newest EP, “The Last Time You’ll Love Me” in June. This raw and real collection is made up of four tracks that showcase the group’s musical talents and stylistic direction, as well as trailblazing the way for their summer journey, a coveted spot on the line up for the 2018 final full cross-country Warped Tour. Lighterburns fit in perfectly with the Warped scene and the community environment. Lighterburns has earned the opportunity to play shows on the last two years of this iconic rock tour, and they’re making sure the final run is for the books.
Their live performances are always energetic and passionate. This band leaves it all on stage and leaves everyone talking, never failing to engage their audiences through their fighting spirit, musical chemistry, and headbanging. Lighterburns’ stage presence is just as bright as the yellow background posters displaying their logo as they perform.
The very essence of Lighterburns can best be described in one word: reinvention. Yearning to create something new out of the past since the very beginning, the group itself was formed out of the ashes of a previous musical endeavor. Furthermore, what they put out is dipped in nostalgia, inspired but not imitated. Lighterburns is everything you loved about the golden days of pop punk without simply restating the sound. They stay true to the basics they know work, all the while looking for ways to explore new and more intricate things musically. Lighterburns is on the rise; as their number of social media followers and Spotify streams increase, so does their motivation. Driven by the sheer power of live music and the need to always be around it, Lighterburns produces a hopeful and well-received reminder that the rock sound you first fell in love with is still thriving, and these three kids are here to help push it forward.
